What Is The Minimum Wage In San Diego?

The minimum wage for employers to pay employees for each hour of work within the geographic boundaries of the City of San Diego increased to $11.50 per hour, beginning January 1, 2017.  San Diego’s minimum wage exceeds California’s minimum wage, which is $10.50 per hour for employers with 25 employees or less and $11.00 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees, beginning January 1, 2018.

The City of San Diego’s minimum wage increases to $12.00 per hour on January 1, 2019. California’s minimum wage increases to $11.00 per hour for employers with 25 employees or less and $12.00 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees on January 1, 2019.

Employees who work in San Diego and receive less than San Diego’s minimum wage can pursue claims against their employers for the unpaid wages, liquidated damages equal to double back wages withheld, attorneys’ fees, and costs for pursuing a lawsuit.
