Employees have important rights at work, like taking breaks and staying safe. Many employers, like large nonspecific e-commerce businesses which shall not be named here, require employees to meet certain quotas at work. A quota is a share of a total that an employes are required to complete, like a task or sales numbers. Workers cannot be forced to meet quotas that stop them from taking their meal or rest breaks or using the bathroom. This means that if someone must meet a certain goal or number of tasks at work, it shouldn’t prevent them from taking care of their health and safety.
Employers also can’t punish employees if they don’t meet a quota that makes it hard to take breaks or follow safety rules. If the quota hasn’t been clearly explained to the worker, the employer also can’t take any action against them for not meeting it.
