An investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Wage and Hour Division found that La Flor de Mexico Inc., a wholesale tortilla maker in Los Angeles County, violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) by failing to pay 72 employees at least minimum wage for all hours worked and correct overtime rates for hours worked over 40 in a week.
As a result of the investigation, the DOL ordered the employer to pay $66,253 in back wages to 72 workers, along with another $66,253 in liquidated damages, which means the workers will receive a total of $132,506.
