Does My Employer Have To Notify Me Of Exposure To COVID-19?

Beginning January 1, 2021, within one business day of learning of a potential exposure to SARS-CoV-2, also referred to as COVID-19 or Coronavirus, California law requires employers to provide written notice to all employees of potential exposure who were at the same worksite as an infected person during an infectious period.

Additionally, employers must provide potentially exposed employees with information about COVID-19 local, state, and federal benefits available.  Benefits may include workers’ compensation, COVID-19 related leave, company sick leave, state-mandated leave, and supplemental sick leave.
