On January 1, 2024, the minimum wage in the City of Cupertino increased to $17.75 per hour. This rate applies to work performed within the geographic boundaries of the Cupertino. If an employee performs work outside the geographic boundaries of Cupertino, but still within California, then at least California’s state minimum wage laws would apply which currently require payment of at least $16 per hour.
Note that Counties may also have their own minimum wage, like for example in the County of Los Angeles. Finally, there may be overlapping minimum wage protections at the city, county, state, and federal level. Regardless of the level of government that provides the protection though, the overlapping jurisdiction that provides the highest hourly rate probably applies.
