Residential Care Facility Settles with Workers for $658,948

On June 12, 2024, the California Labor Commissioner’s Office (LCO) announced a $658,948 settlement with Edgewood Residential Care Facility.  The employer allegedly failed to pay 34 workers for all hours worked.  Some employees allegedly worked up to 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. They also allegedly were not allowed to leave work, not paid overtime, forced to work through rest and meal breaks, and given pay stubs missing required information.

Out of the settlement, $608,948 will be paid to the workers for overtime wages, minimum wages, meal period violations, rest period violations, waiting time penalties, liquidated damages, and paystub violations.  The remaining $50,000 are payable to the State as civil penalties.
